What happens on a call
When the call ends, the caller is matched in your CRM by phone number (or email), or added as a new contact, and a note is written against them: who called, when, what they wanted, what was agreed, and the conversation itself. It happens in the background after the call, never while the caller is waiting, and each call is written once — even if the phone line reports it twice. You can press “Send a test call” in Apps & Connections to see exactly what lands.
Setting it up
- 1In your dashboard open Apps & Connections → Clio and choose your region (EU for most UK firms).
- 2Sign in with Clio and approve — or ask us to connect it for you.
- 3Press “Send a test call”: a contact appears with the call as a note.
Built to the vendor’s published API. Connect & test checks it works with your own account before any caller relies on it.
Good to know
- Calls are noted on the contact, not on a matter — the receptionist can’t know which matter a caller means, so your team links it.
- Clio only allows sign-in connections (no API keys) and needs a paid Clio plan.
If something goes wrong
A connection never breaks a call: Clio is written to after the call has ended, in the background. If Clio can’t be reached, the call is still in your dashboard and your usual email or text summary, and the failure is shown on the Clio card in Apps & Connections. Keys and sign-ins you give us are encrypted and never shown back.
